I lived only a few miles from here and drove past daily for my commute to work. I parked in the lot across the road to use the bike trail but it allows one to also park and check out the site. This is a must see if you are in the area. It should be seen in both daylight and evening. In the day, the amazing architecture can be seen more clearly. At night, especially during a full moon on a clear evening, it does take on an ominous feel. The walkway across the road removed of few years ago, unfortunately.
A curiosity of the site is that from the very top of the tower, through a hole in the roof, is a ladder to nowhere. Certainly this does not provide a means of escape!
Since moving to Charlotte, I have not visited the site but expect to drive by on my next visit to the North!

LOVE it!! Sounds like something I would do for sure. The only thing I can compare it to, which is in no way the same thing other than I was SO tensed up, waiting for something, like you were, that when I got it, I damn near wet myself...

Living in a very old house with not one room that did not have huge windows, I was very afraid during a bad morning of multiple tornado sightings and just horrendous weather all around me. Listening to the weather channel bulletins, they reminded us that if we heard "a train like sound" that could mean a tornado was bearing down on us and we needed to take cover NOW! Well, this house with all the windows (no interior "safe" room) also only had a stall shower (no bathtub) and I had a waterbed so dragging the mattress over me was not about to happen. There I am, having recently lost my Daddy and now there was a storm coming to get me, all I could do was wait. I walked out onto my side porch to listen so I would know which direction my demise was coming from. The air itself was green, heavy and it was very oddly quiet. Then the lightning flashes started, on all sides. Rain poured and winds picked up so I could not tell which direction things were blowing in because it was in ALL directions at once. I recalled the advice, and began listening for the telltale train noises. Lightning popping everywhere, rain blowing around, I was leaning forward some just to listen better. Can I tell you that when the actual train sounded its horn on the approach to the crossing, about a block from my house, I damn near passed out. *sigh* To be fair, there were 5 tornadoes confirmed to have touched down and traveled on the ground, and when they showed the map on the news that afternoon, they formed a circle around my house with about a 1/2 mile span in each direction.

Hey Anita! Thank you for your comment :) I have heard about Point Pleasant many times and it's on my list of places to do an overnight or at least a drive through to see if we catch anything. The Mothman has always been a subject of interest to me because it's just so odd.. I went to the Trans Allegheney Lunatic Asylum which isn't too far from there but we didn't get to stop. Darn it!! If you head back there, let me know if you find anything! If I do a trip there soon I'll have Becky get in touch with you, or you can feel free to contact me anytime at my email address. Beth@paraadventures.com.

I am a friend of Becky Bilbus and she referred me to your site. I am a big fan of the shows Dead Files, Ghosts Adventures and any that have to do with spirits, ghosts, and orbs! I was wondering if you have ever been to Point Pleasant West Virginia, the place where "The Mothman" was sited? The area known as "TNT", has several bunkers that people have apparently had strange things show up on their digital cameras, once they upload them onto their computers. The bunkers were built on an indian burial ground, and some have had warriors show up in pictures. I was there this weekend and didn't have time to go the bunkers but I WILL go back!
